Mumbai: Rashmi Raman Singh, 58, General Manger and Director, Oriental Insurance Company (OIC), a New Delhi based State-run general insurer, has been taken over as the CMD of the company on last Friday. Talking to Bizz Buzz on what will be his agenda, Singh said, “To be a profitable and customer friendly organization.”

Ministry of Finance had notified his appointment earlier during the day. Singh, a direct recruit officer belonging to 1987 batch of OIC, will be retiring in Feb 2025. Earlier, Singh was selected by the Financial Services Institution Bureau (FSIB), to be the next CMD of OIC after interviewing five general managers of PSU general insurance companies.

OIC’s top post fell vacant from Feb 1 after Anjan Dey put in his papers by opting for availing voluntary retirement scheme (VRS). Now, the next round of vacancies of CMDs in the PSU general insurance companies during the current calendar year will happen when Suchita Gupta will be calling it a day at National Insurance Company (NIC) in August end and Devesh Srivastava retiring from GIC Re in September end.
